The railroad shipping point was named for W. A. Drake
and engineer who constructed the line. Today it is a major shipping point
for some of the finest flagstone quarried in the United States.

There was a
second community by the name of Puntenney
to the SW of Drake/Cedar Glade, as indicated on the above map. The Puntenney Cemetery is so noted.
George
Puntenney came to Arizona from Colorado in 1879. It
was he who built the first lime kiln at this location. The Puntenney Lime Company was sold in 1929 to John T.
Sheffield and Paul Spur. Post Office established May 20, 1892 as
Puntney, George
Puntenney Post
Master. Name changed to Puntenney, date unknown.
Post Office discontinued Sept 30, 1932.
