A great day was
experienced by all that participated in this year’s Humbug Open House. Some 77
vehicles were parked in and about the town and estimates this represented
approximately 160 + people. Weather and temperatures were perfect and most
people brought their own food and non-alcoholic beverages.
TOURS included the
ghost towns of Humbug and Columbia including the cemeteries, individual graves
and to the Paro Bonito Mine. Plans next year are being considered for learning
to gold pan and dowsing. Consideration to have more activities for the children
is being evaluated. In addition local song writer and performer may perform during
the lunch period. If this was a good one, wait until next year.
We are always in need
to a helping hand, if you would like to volunteer to help with this event, or
would like to volunteer a special activity that you do, please contact Dave
Burns or Neal Du Shane.
A special thank you to
all that volunteered and made the 2011 Humbug Open House a tremendous success.
